How Does Beat The Streets Involve Social-Emotional Learning In Its Programs?

We’ve had a few blog posts here about the importance of social-emotional learning, but how exactly do we incorporate it into our programs?

Social-emotional learning is integral to the healthy development of youth and children and it is at the core of all our programs. We help youth excel throughout life by providing them social-emotional learning skills, as taught by our amazing coaches.

We have four amazing programs here at BTST: Wrestle4Fun(damentals), Level Up, You Grow Girl, and Work It, which involve different kinds of soft skills and social-emotional learning.

The skills that our students are getting exceed far past the ones we’ve listed in our infographics—because that’s just how valuable our programs are for the healthy development of our youth and children!

Participants in our programs are led by skilled coaches and athletes and learn skills such as:

  • healthy boundaries

  • emotional management

  • self-control

  • empathy

  • behaviour management

  • responsible decision-making

  • goal-setting

  • positive communication

and so much more!

Check out the infographic below to see just some of the skills that our youth and children are getting, and click on our program links to get involved .. or click here :)

Resilient children tend to be empathic; that is, they can understand and sympathize with the feelings of others. They tend to be good communicators who are able to solve problems. They have a strong interest in school, and are dedicated to learning. They’re driven to achieve goals. They’re involved in meaningful activities. They’re hopeful about the future. They have a solid relationship with one or more adults.
