Ready to work?
Workit is a unique and engaging job training experience that takes your skillset to the next level.
We believe that youth should have access to meaningful employment opportunities to increase their resilience and job readiness and help them successfully transition to the labour market. That is why we combine job opportunities with mentoring and learning opportunities to ensure our youth of today become productive, positive and successful adults of tomorrow.
Workit encourages
Job readiness
BTS uses an employability skills framework and job opportunities in the non-profit sector to increase job readiness, confidence, and workplace skills.
The non-profit sector offers many opportunities to develop hard skills. It is also a sector that promotes collaboration and creativity, where staff wear many different hats and learn a variety of skills and problem solve and work in teams.
These are transferable skills that can be learned and applied to a wide variety of industries. In addition to building leadership, digital and research skills, participants learn about resource management, information use, communication skills, systems thinking and technology use.
Healthy minds
We use a social-emotional learning framework approach based on the principles and values of BTS, to improve the resiliency and well-being of students and equip them with the 21st century skills they need to find success in tomorrow's workplace, like self-leadership and goal-setting.
Students improve these skills through work experience, workshops, tutorials, one-on-one mentoring and team activities.
“Canada’s future depends on our young people being able to get the good, well-paying jobs they need to succeed. Creating more opportunities for young people to gain valuable skills and experience will help strengthen our economy and build a Canada where no one is left behind."
“A wave of technology, globalization and new management models has created employment challenges that threaten the prosperity of our young people. The young people who will contribute to Canada’s social safety net need the opportunities and support to adapt as the world of work evolves.”
