Treating Injury
Kesia Here!
Sudden injuries are inevitable and scary. Whether they are severe or minor, they happen to the best of us. I have encountered many injuries throughout my life and these two methods I am going to introduce will be great to do at home.
The first method is the R.I.C.E method.
R: Rest - Keeping the injured area from any movement to prevent more blood flow
I: Ice - Applying cold therapy to help with inflammation
C: Compression - Keeping the injury wrapped to stay help with inflammation
E: Elevate - Elevate the area of injury with lowers pressure in the blood vessels to minimize bleeding
The R.I.C.E method is known for reducing the inflammation that happens after a minor injury.
The second method is the M.E.A.T method.
M: Movement - Movement enhances flushing of lymph and blood
E: Exercise - Increases circulation bringing in fresh blood
A: Analgesia - Natural pain killers that have been known to help manage pain include ginger, turmeric, capsaicin, valerian root, magnesium, and boswellia.
T: Treatment - This can range from joint mobilization, acupuncture, soft tissue release, laser, ice, heat, etc.
The M.E.A.T method increases blood flow which enhances healing.
These two methods are known to be very effective when it comes to healing an injury. M.E.A.T and R.I.C.E can't guarantee to heal your injury completely, but it can sure help the process.
Don’t let pain stop you from doing what makes you happy!
