Blog post

First of all, I wanna thank BTS for offering me an opportunity to work with them. I am beyond happy to become a part of this organization and work for the development with my complete knowledge and skills.

I’m Negar and this summer I will be working as one of the research assistants at Beat The Streets. I study life sciences at McMaster University. I have been swimming for as long as I can remember and one of the biggest reasons why I LOVE swimming is because it is so peaceful when you go underwater. Fun Fact, when you hold your breath underwater, CO2 levels rise which then causes Carotid arteries (major blood vessels that supply blood to the brain) to expand, providing proper circulation in the brain and therefore, reducing stress!

I have always wanted to push past my limits. For example, whenever I go to the pool I would force myself to stay underwater for a little longer period. But of course, not too long because I don’t want to find eternal peace LOLL. I usually try to challenge myself every now and then to learn or improve different skills.

Thanks to Canada Summer Jobs for enabling youth employment and giving us an opportunity to develop more skills and gain self-esteem, confidence, and resilience!
