My Favourite Fruits

How do you even begin to describe how good fruits are, and I’m not talking about the health benefits I’m talking about how you can eat them literally at any time. In today’s blog with Arely, I want to share with you guys my top ten favourite fruits and why I like them. What I like about fruits, in general, is that you can have them whenever you want as a treat, as a snack, or as part of your meal.

  1. Cantaloupe

My number one favourite fruit is cantaloupe because it’s refreshing to eat, it’s sweet, and the way it’s built. 92 percent of the cantaloupe is water and that’s what makes it so refreshing to me, it contains vitamins A and C which can help better your immune system and better your eyesight, also one cup only contains approximately 55 calories. I like how the outer part of the fruit is usually hard then it gets softer on the inside. I love eating it plain, but sometimes I’ll accompany it with granola honey and cottage cheese or with ice cream.

  2. Oranges

My go-to fruit is oranges because they’re easy to find, easy to pick out, and fun to peel. Oranges have many health benefits, they help protect your cells against damage, helps your body heal wounds and it also helps boost your immune system because of how rich it is in vitamin C. I usually eat my oranges alone, but if you have any other way to eat them let me know!

  3. Strawberry

They’re sweet, small, tasty, and many ways to eat them that’s why I like strawberries. Strawberries can help decrease the chances of you getting heart disease and cancer and they also help reduce blood sugar. I enjoy having strawberries in my smoothies, in my cereal, in my salads, and with granola, yogurt, and other barriers.

  4. Grapes

My favourite small fruit to eat is grapes because of how small, sweet and hard they can be. According to my health and nutrition teacher, grapes may improve memory, attention, and moods, and may protect against Alzheimer’s disease. I don’t have any neat or creative ways to eat my grapes because I enjoy eating them one by one.

  5. Bananas

I enjoy eating bananas because they have a nice soft texture, they’re sweet and good for your health. If you need vitamin B6, bananas are what you need to eat. A medium-sized banana can provide around a quarter of your daily vitamin B6 needs and it is easier for your body to absorb it when it comes from bananas. They help maintain a healthy nervous system, it metabolizes amino acids and many other benefits. I love having bananas in my smoothies, with sour cream and sugar (not a very healthy option but its so good!), or in my cereals.

  6. Pears

Another soft fruit I like eating is pears, my favourite is when they’re soft from the inside but the skin is still a little tight. Pears are high in water and fibre so if you eat them regularly it may help you feel full which can lead to weight loss, Mmmmm a wrestler’s favourite. Again, I don’t have any special way of eating my pears so if you have any good ways to eat them, send them our way!

  7. Pomegranate

I find it fun to eat pomegranates because I like to pop the small seed with my tongue and the roof of my mouth. Pomegranate can help improve your exercise performance because it increases your blood flow. I love eating pomegranates with salt lime and tajin (chilli), I also like them in my salads or plain.

  8. Papaya

I don’t eat this fruit often but I do love eating it. Papayas can help your skin recover from sun damage and may defend against wrinkles. I like having it in smoothies, or alone.

  9.   Watermelon

Just like the cantaloupe, I enjoy watermelon because of the amount of water it has, its sweetness, and its texture. I like the crunchiness of it and how the juice comes out of it when you bit down on it. Watermelon can help reduce muscle soreness after working out, make sure you have it during the golden hour which is within the 2 hours after working out this is the best point where your body absorbs all the nutrients it needs to recover after a hard workout.

  10. Pineapples

Pineapples are my “once in a blue moon” fruit because I don’t eat them often. I don’t have them often because I don’t like peeling them, and I get carried away and have a little too much to the point that my tongue hurts. Pineapples are good for you because it contains manganese, a mineral that helps develop your bones.

These are my favourite fruits to have at any time. When I’m hungry (as a snack) I can use them as a side in my meals, I can have them when I need to maintain my weight for wrestling season, or when I have to cut down and I need a refresher. Not only do they have an amazing taste but they are also beneficial to your health!
