The You Grow Girl program we have coming to Beat The Streets Toronto is great for anyone especially young women who want to become better physically and mentally. Our programs have done that for many members of our team and continue to do this for any and all of the athletes in our program. Doing physically demanding activities is bound to make you better physically whether its due to losing weight, gaining muscle, getting better cardio or just being an all-around tougher and a better athlete.

Our program can make you stronger and a better person mentally whether it is becoming more confident with yourself, learning better discipline, or having good mutual respect for your fellow athletes and coaches. I interviewed a few women who are apart of our team and have been with Beat the Streets Toronto for a while now. I asked how has being a part of Beat the Streets program helped you become better physically and mentally and these were their responses.

Wrestling has allowed Tarnpreet and I to better ourselves mentally and physically because wrestling allowed us to develop our physical literacy, strength, flexibility, speed and power. Wrestling has allowed me to become stronger individuals. Mentally wrestling has allowed us to challenge ourselves and put out our best efforts in everything we do in life. We wouldn’t be the individuals we are today without wrestling.
— Tarleen & Tarnpreet Saroya
I’ve always been asthmatic and all and during the first few years of wrestling, I always needed it after every one of my matches but now I can go for a whole 6 minutes and still not have to use my puffer... wrestling is probably the fittest sport ever and mentally it teaches you about discipline
— Christelle Lans
As a young student, I had a lot of goals and some were achieved with the help of BTS. Training with BTS made me go the physical distance to obtain my goals and with BTS excellent mentoring program Gen Morrison helped guide me through that youthful time in my life. Hearing Gen’s stories of being the high-level wrestler she was, was very inspirational. A lot of life lessons such as grit, resilience, and true happiness has been taught to me through BTS all in which I use in my everyday life. I truly feel like I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for BTS.
— Dejah Slater
Working with BTS Toronto has helped both my physical and mental development. Training with BTS in high school exposed me to many high level coaches and gave me the opportunity to train beyond my high school gym. Doing that allowed me to immerse myself in the sport of wrestling which I know accelerated my growth and ambition. I became used to higher intensity practices and my mentality grew along with my muscles. I’m glad to have been exposed to all those things so early in my wrestling career
— Simi Jayeoba

These responses are evidence of how Beat the Streets Toronto has impacted young woman athletes and why this program would affect so many more young women athletes and make them greater mentally. For example, boosting their confidence or physically making them better at a sport while also having great female role models to look up to and be inspired by.
