Student employees will be taking over BTS social media this summer
Thanks to the generous support from Canada Summer Jobs, the BTS team will grow and welcome 6 student employees to work with us during the summer. We believe it is important to bring youth into the development and planning of our programs, as ultimately, it affects them. Getting their input and voice is invaluable, and the positions they will fill demonstrate that belief.
2 students will provide research assistance and program planning and development support to reshape our mentorship program and develop a mental health component. They will also contribute to a workbook and online resource page for BTS students.
2 students will take over our social media as community managers. They will coordinate, create and publish content, design templates, reach out to our audiences and raise awareness of our program. They will help develop a social media plan and a unique and positive online identity for BTS.
2 students will learn fundraising and grant writing skills as they work to update and expand our databases while creating and planning fundraising and awareness events to promote BTS. They will work closely with the other teams to create and share messages that highlight our work and the success of our participants and thank our generous donors.
Starting this week, they will be producing our social media blogs and posts. This is a great opportunity for them to learn communication skills, find their voice, share their stories and for us to listen to what they have to say.
Last year, our students did a great job running our social media. They posted thoughtful and articulate articles on a range of topics. Some of their posts have been viewed thousands of times!
We are very excited to use our social media to share their voices and stories and look forward to see what our online presence will look like at the end of the summer!
