How Has Wrestling Shaped You Into Who You Are?

Wrestling has shaped me into the person that I am today. Wrestling has taught me many valuable skills I will benefit from for the rest of my life. I’ve become a better leader and learned how to work well under pressure. This has tremendously helped me out not only in school but also in my day to day life. I no longer get nervous while doing a presentation in class and it has pushed me to go outside my comfort zone. I’ve learned to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. My problem-solving and critical thinking skills have also improved. Because of wrestling’s time consuming nature, it has forced me to become more disciplined; I have no time to procrastinate. I can now organize my time much more efficiently. Lastly, wrestling has given me confidence that I know I could never live without. The regular exercise that came along with wrestling boosted my confidence and increased my self esteem. As my strength, skills and stamina improved, so did my self-image. Not only did I get stronger physically, I got stronger mentally as well.
Another thing that really helped me was the support system I had around me. The connections and relationships that I have made through wrestling are long lasting bonds. Coaches and my fellow teammates were always supportive and they all had such positive, uplifting, contagious energy. In conclusion, wrestling has not only helped me become a better person, but it has helped me excel in a variety of other areas in my life as well. Wrestling has been and will continue to be a very important part of my life and I encourage others to get out there and participate as well.
