About Me

 Hi, my name is Kertreina Burrowes , I am a third year justice student at the University of Guelph Humber. This is my first opportunity as a Program Coordinator at Beat The Streets. It is extremely exciting for me to work with the youth in my community in order to spread self-awareness and the importance of focus. My personal trait is that I am a people-person, so through this program, your children will have the opportunity to develop self-confidence and interact with me and my volunteer peers in a way that fosters trust and opens up opportunities for academic assistance as well as true individuality. 

My goal when working with students is to work hand-in-hand with them to ensure that they are devoted to achieving their goals. Throughout my life, I have always looked at myself as a leader. I wanted to learn from my elders and be creative. I aspire to give students a chance to value their upbringing, as well as make a change in their routine. This will help them improve their minds, bodies, as well as their communication. A delay, as someone once told me, is not a denial. Every day is an opportunity to become a better version of yourself.

As a result, every challenge we face shapes us into the individuals we are, and youth will succeed if they live out their vision, mission, and values on a daily basis.
